Where Good Gatherings Begin – Book Today!

Hayden Backcountry Lodge is a Colorado retreat lodge tucked above Ouray in the Richmond Basin of the San Juan Mountains. Today, those guests arrive as backcountry skiers, leadership teams, families, artists, and lifelong friends. Different reasons. The same invitation: spend a few days together in a landscape that has a way of slowing everyone down.

Mount Hayden Backcountry Lodge is a 17-person mountain lodge tucked above Ouray, Colorado, in the Richmond Basin of the San Juan Mountains. Our mission is to create a Colorado retreat lodge where people reconnect with nature, one another, and themselves through shared time in an extraordinary landscape.

For some, that means earning fresh turns in the San Juan backcountry or setting out on an alpine trail. For others, it’s gathering a leadership team, bringing generations of family together, celebrating a milestone, creating alongside friends, or simply finding a few days without interruption. Hayden welcomes all of it.

We play host to every kind of mountain experience, offering countless ways to engage with the landscape. Up here, you’ll immerse yourself in the backcountry, explore alpine trails, share long meals, watch the stars emerge, and experience rustic comfort that invites you to slow down and stay awhile.

Whether you’re reserving a room or gathering your people under one roof, Hayden offers something increasingly rare: time together in a place that changes the way we connect.
